The Standardization Department is responsible for drafting and revising Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) for fundamental aspects of the rubber industry, such as raw materials, testing equipment, and testing methods, as well as harmonizing these standards with international standards (ISO) on behalf of the Japan Rubber Industry Association.
In addition, we have established the Japan Rubber Industry Standards (SRIS) appropriately and rationally for specifications required by the rubber industry. Going forward, we will pursue internationalization.
These activities contribute to improving the quality and productivity of rubber and elastomer products and promoting other rationalizations. Furthermore, they play an important role in establishing Japanese rubber and elastomer technologies as global standards.

The Society of Rubber Science and Technology, Japan Standard Specifications (SRIS) ‘3901 Terminology and Symbols for Belt Transmission’ and ‘0501 Test Method for Dispersibility of Recycled Rubber’ will be abolished as of December 31, 2003. We hereby notify you of this change.
With this abolition, the SRIS, which has contributed to the improvement of rubber product quality, enhancement of production efficiency, reduction of costs, and other production rationalization since the establishment of ‘SRIS 1101 Stearic Acid for Rubber’ in 1966, will complete its mission and be abolished in its entirety.
Please note that the future handling of the above two standards will be entrusted to the relevant associations, the Rubber Belt Manufacturers Association and the Recycled Rubber Manufacturers Association.
