The study of rubber and rheology have a long-standing connection. Rheology started from the question of how to understand the complex mechanical behaviours of rubber-like materials. On the other hand, rheology has not answered many important problems of rubber, such as friction, fatigue, adhesion, fracture etc., Tackling these problems is crucial for future development of rheology and rubber technology.
