Rubber products which consist of polymers with several tens % of chlorine contents in the molecules such as chloroprene rubber (CR), chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSM) and epichlorohydrin rubber (CO) possess excellent heat resistance, weatherability and flame retardancy.
Composition analysis methods of these chlorine-containing rubber products are somewhat different from those of hydrocarbon type commodity rubber products. In ash content measurement, attention needs to be paid on the formation of zinc chloride. Moreover, in the quantitative analysis of carbon black, it needs to be cautious of formation of carbonaceous residue.
With above precautions included, composition analysis methods of chlorine-containing rubber products are discussed.
