The article describes the demand and technology trends of thermosetting resins in the last 20 years. In the thermosetting resin, the production of urea formaldehyde resin decreased roughly, because of the reducing tendency of formaldehyde which is the major cause of the sick-house syndrome. On the other hand, epoxy resin becomes a favorable increasing production accompanied as the increasing electronic component use for the personal computer. The remarkable technical developments progressed at the fields of phenol resin and epoxy resin. In the future, synthesis of designed thermosetting polymers becomes possible, and the new application will be widely developed.
