English Abstract

Polyethylene Yozo NAGAI Japan Polyethylene Corporation, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan Nippon Gomu Kyokaishi,(2007),80(8),282-287 General Review in Japanese Abstract Production of Polyethylene (PE), which is the largest volume plastic now in the world, started about 70 years ago. This paper reviews the major technological progresses in these 20 years and states the future prospects of PE industry. Many developmental works on single-site catalysts and cascade reactor processes and so on have made the precise control of polymer structure possible and improved the properties of PE. And new technologies for co-polymerization with polar co-monomers and olefin block co-polymerization are now opening the new field of PE.
