Abstract
Soft materials containing ionic liquids have been prepared because of their unique and excellent properties. Herein, recent reports of soft materials using ionic liquids are reviewed. Especially, composites employing general elastomers, such as natural rubber and nitrile rubber, were highlighted. Both good elasticity and high ionic conductivity have been realized by the design of micro-phase-separated structure. Composites using gelator, polymer matrices, biomacromolecules, are also introduced in this article. Ionic liquids having functional groups have also been applied to prepare polymers and liquid crystals having unique characteristics of the ionic liquids.
