Elastomer
Symposium

The 36th Elastomer Symposium will be held, bringing together scientists and engineers to discuss topics related to rubber, elastomers, and soft materials.
The symposium will feature two main themes: “Carbon Neutrality and the Circular Economy in Rubber” and “Digital Transformation and Material Informatics in Rubber.”We invite you to share your extensive knowledge and experience, and engage in lively discussions from diverse perspectives to address the environmental challenges facing rubber and explore the latest technologies for swiftly and effectively resolving these issues, thereby shaping the future of the rubber industry together.
Additionally, on the evening of the first day, we will host a mixer as an opportunity for participants to network. We look forward to your presentations and participation.

Topic Theme

“Carbon Neutrality and the Circular Economy for Rubber”

In 2020, Japan declared its commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to net zero. The rubber industry must also reduce CO2 emissions during manufacturing and use, and efforts to reduce environmental impact are becoming more active. In resource-poor Japan, many technological innovations that contribute to the circular economy, such as recycling technologies and technologies for utilizing sustainable raw materials, are also being developed. We look forward to your presentations, attendance, and active discussion to help the rubber industry maintain and expand as a sustainable industry.

“Digital Transformation of Rubber, Material Informatics”

In recent years, digital transformation (DX), a technology that brings about radical change through the use of digital technology, has been taken up by many companies and researchers. Among these, material informatics (MI) technology, which applies information science to the exploration and development of materials, is attracting attention for its contribution to the rapid development of new materials and the creation of high added value.By actively utilizing these latest technologies, we hope to contribute to the innovation of rubber materials, which are complexly related to materials, manufacturing methods such as mixing and vulcanization, and changes in the usage environment. We look forward to your presentations, attendance, and active discussion.
