Chiba Technical Center, Ichihara, Chiba, Japan Nippon Gomu Kyokaishi,(2009),82(2),56-60 General Review in Japanese Abstract Carbon black is applied for many products, especially in rubber industries. Its physical and chemical structure is summarized in this paper. The influence of the carbon black properties, especially surface area and structure, on the mixing and the rubber properties is described for the NR and SBR formulation. In addition,the examples of the contributions from the aggregate size distribution and hydrogen contents to the rubber reinforcements are given.
