Counter Measurement of Environment and Reduction of Cost for Polymer Production Process Yasuharu SAEKI Tokaigakuen University, Department of Business Administration, Asahi-ku,Yokohama, Japan Nippon Gomu Kyokaishi,(2008),81(9),370-375 General Review in Japanese Abstract The basic features of polymer production process for plastics, synthetic rubbers and synthetic fibers are described. The �gclosed system of production process�h and the �gsaving of materials and energy�h are important concepts for solving the counter measurement of environment and reduction of cost. The concrete procedures and examples of application of these concepts are shown. The scale-up and simplification of production process are most effective measures for the counter measurement of environment and reduction of cost. The development of polymerization reactor for poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) is shown as an example of scale-up. The developments of production processes for polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) are shown as examples of simplification.
