Abstract
Natural rubber (NR), styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), butadiene rubber (BR), isoprene rubber (IR) and butyl rubber (IIR) are called general purpose rubber. NR is agricultural products produced in Southeast Asia. Other rubbers are manufactured using radical polymerization, anionic polymerization or cationic polymerization. General purpose rubbers are widely used in the industrial field such as materials for tire. In the case of materials for tire, recently, the development of rubber with reduced hysteresis losses is strongly desired from the viewpoint of resource saving and energy saving. For this purpose, various kinds of solution-polymerized SBR (S-SBR) are developed. The remarkable technology of S-SBR is to be able to introduce the functional group into polymer terminal. This modification technology is effective for reducing hysteresis losses. Therefore, the development of new modified SSBR will be carried out in future.
