Abstract
Characteristic feature and applications of conducting polymers such as polyaniline, polypyrrole and polythiophene derivatives are described. Especially polyaniline is the most promising conducting polymer due to its environmental stability and adequate level of conductivity. The latest progress on the fabrication of polyaniline and its blends has attracted an enormous industrial interests.
Composites and blends of polyaniline with several conventional plastics for use in plastic battery, antistatic coating, electromagnetic shielding, artificial muscle, corrosion protection, microwave absorption, aerospace and related purposes have been produced and displayed by various industries.
