Abstract
Silicone rubber is a unique synthetic elastomer made from a cross-linked silicone polymer that is reinforced with silica.
It has been utilized for many applications because of its excellent thermal stability, weatherability, electrical properties, durability, flame resistance, and so on, exceeding many organic elastomers.
In recent years, the following technologies were developed such as 1) fast cure type by addition cure with using capsulated Pt catalyst, 2) electrical conductive and semi-conductive rubber using carbon black, 3) thermal conductive rubber using alumina filler, 4) adhesive and selective adhesive rubber using special adhesion promoter, 5) rubber sponge by addition cure not using organic blowing agents, and 6) silicone reactive hot-melt. These applications and recent market trends were also described.
